Okay, I'm guessing lots of people had problems running arabian nights, as did I, so here's the solution I figured out, in detail:
Symptoms:
You downloaded the game, installed it, applied the crack, and after running it for the first time, after the first two videos played the bellydancer intro started and all you could see was the bellydancer, and some weird light in the corner. After pressing [Esc] the menu was messed up, the options were not visible and the sword cursor just pointed to nothing, and you could not start the game...
The problem:
Well, I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, all I could figure out is that Arabian Nights doesn't really like the new DirectX, and causes all this trouble. So you can't play the game if you have a pc that uses electricity and not stones and ropes or something.
The solution:
Thankfully, the game allows you to chose the rendering engine you want to use: either D3D (the one that causes the trouble) or Glide(3dfx). Now, unless you have a voodoo card and gone through the trouble of making it work under xp, you cannot use that option. Well, that's not entirely true. There is software available to emulate 3dfx's Glide engine using OpenGL. And that's exactly what we need.
In the menu that pops up, choose: Glide (3dfx) instead of D3D
Press "Save Configuration" and then press "Play"
You will probably start hearing sound but all you get is a blank screen. DO NOT WORRY. This is normal, and it is a needed step for the wrapper to detect the game. Hit Alt+Tab, and once you are back to the desktop, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, and shut down Arabian Nights.
Go to Start->All Programs->Glide wrapper->Configurator
In the window that pops up do the following
Click on "Application specific overrides"
Scroll all the way down the list and find "_St_3dfx.exe" and click on it
To the right of the window, tick on the tickbox next to "Render to"
Tick on Mipmapping and set it to "Generate Mipmaps" (thanks to wingedwolf for this one)
Choose "Client window"
Hit OK to close this window
Now start the game. Hopefully all goes well, and the bellydancer appears in front of the moon with the game logo in front of her. Enjoy the game!
Bugs:
When I tried to change the game resolution from within the game, the game crashed to desktop. Maybe it's only in my laptop, maybe it's not a problem for anyone else.
Compatibility:
I have only tested this on my laptop, which has a non-standar resolution, and an nvidia graphics card. If anyone gets this to work with any other video card (ati, on board stuff etc) please post to let us know this is a fix for every card!

The game worked fine on my VooDoo 3 video card.

Didn't work, I got something like a glWin failed error after installing the wrapper, and after rendering the .exe, the game starts but closes quickly. Also, my Arabian Night's version (first episode, demo (I thought I bought the full version (French version), because "Full Version" is written on the cover , but it was just the demo)) is 2. something, the downloaded one (first episode, demo) is 1. something.... _________________ Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true -

Hey, this is pretty neat! however, i now have a completely different problem that made me say: WTF?
The textures went so wrong!
Also every time i hit escape and go back to game the textures are messed up more... well, at least i can understand some texts, all models are showed and the polygons of models aren't messed up. i hope that i will find the sulotion for this _________________ So, the best Prince Of Persia games are all of them except Warrior Within... that isn't prince, thats psycho!
ah well, who knows. I tried this with the full english ISO that is on that other topic, with the crack that is posted there. Well, actually i did use the same as you, and i found a way to fix that.
I just simply changed the mipmapping to "Generate Mipmaps"

Jalal: If you have any other 3dfx drivers installed, remove them. Bare in mind, this is only for people who DON'T have a Voodoo card, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work on a pc with a voodoo card. Actually, it could f*** up your voodoo drivers, so best try it in a pc without a voodoo card

Actually, it could fuck up your voodoo drivers, so best try it in a pc without a voodoo card
