NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A CUSTOM FIRMWARE TO START THIS PROGRAM! (The version 3.71 M33 is very good).
Download the program clicking on PSP logo [DOSBOX 0.71 PSP PORT by CrazyC].
1- Open "My Computer", connect your psp to PC, copy the two folders: "dosbox" and "PSP" in your PSP ROOT (probabilly is E:\). It ask to overwrite, click: "Yes to all".
2- Disconnect the cable, go to the "Game" menu and start the DOSBox... Immediatly starts a program called: Dos Navigator, this is necessary to start the games in easy way.
3- Now move the cursor with the analogic cursor, go upside-left and make double-click on the "TWO-POINTS" pressing two times the R button.
There's two folders named: "PRINCE13" and "POP2". PRINCE13= Prince of Persia 1. POP2= Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame.
Make again double click using the R button in one of this folders.
4- I have added specials .BAT files one per folder. This files are able to map the PC keyboard keys to the PSP buttons. So to start the game, press two times R button in "PoP.bat" or "PoP2.bat".
_____________________________________________________
PoP1 keys:

Cross + arrow right or left: jump without run
Up: grab up \\ parate (using sword)
Down: go down \\ put down the sword

Square: walk \\ collect items
Select: pause \\ skip cinematics
Start: enter

PoP2 keys:
Arrows: movements
Cross: jump (is the Up button) \\ grab up
Cross + arrow right or left: jump without run
Up: grab up \\ parate (using sword)
Down: go down \\ put down the sword
Square: walk \\ collect items
Circle: use sword
Triangle+L: load game
Triangle+R: save game
Select: pause \\ skip cinematics
Start: enter
IMPORTANT INFOS
1- The game stuck in "Sound Blaster" mode. I used the option "PC Speaker" for the audio. Game stuck after taking the boat loading the file "nis.dat": this why the PSP Kernel can run maximum 9 files per time. Is impossible to fix this.
2- Game versions: PoP1= 1.3. PoP2= 1.0
3- In PoP2 when you enter in the grotto, there is the copy protection screen. Press Start to continue. (Also loading a saved game).
4- In PoP2, to save, press Triangle + R, press again R to write the letter G, now press Start.

Ehm... And how do you see time, if there's no button, fitting for the space bar? I know, the time appears every five minutes, but... _________________ We have a little cat,

Well, I can finish PoP1 within 30 minutes, too - without speedrun! _________________ We have a little cat,

Wow this is awesome. I never got to figure out how to run DosBox on the PSP, but thank you for just makin it easy. Do you have any other DOS games your running on your PSP like this? Cuz I know you created your own custom .bat files but the thing is I dont know how to do that. Im thinkin a classic RPG runnin on the PSP. The only issue would be full use of keyboard on the PSP. but yea, lemme know if you have done that. Would greatly appreciate. Great Props on the accomplishment. _________________ Holy Crapola! |

To download dos games search on google the game name + download,
This is the bat file that i used to map pop1:
@ECHO OFF
INPUTMAP up up
INPUTMAP right right
INPUTMAP down down
INPUTMAP left left
INPUTMAP triangle down
INPUTMAP square lshift
INPUTMAP cross up
INPUTMAP circle circle
INPUTMAP start enter
INPUTMAP select esc
INPUTMAP exec prince
write your game-keys in notedap, save the file when you finished to map and rename the file start.bat (the extension bust be ever .bat). _________________ Prince of Persia 3D DL (Brøderbund, 1999, 900MB)

I already have DOS games. I was just wondering how to make custom bats. So you can do it with notpad, with no need for any coding or anything? Like a HEX editer? Cool, Imma try that.
*EDIT*
Scratch all that. Ive figured it out all out. I actually have Alone in the Dark 1 running on the PSP with my own config thanks to you. I have left and right as left and right, X as up, Circle as Enter, and RTrigger as Space. That way it kinda feels like resident evil. This is really cool tho. Thanks again. Now I can actually play DOS games. Thanks very much. Do you know if there is any way of utilizing the Anolog for the mouse, for certain games? _________________ Holy Crapola! |

Yeh. I have a GameGear, too. So I know, what you are talking about.
Anyway, the GameGear/Master System version of PoP REALLY sucks, but we know this, already. _________________ We have a little cat,

I forgot to add this a while ago, www.abandonia.org is a real great site to find full DOS Games. Its supposedly legal cuz theyre abandoned games. I dont really care, so I download em anyways. But yea, heads up so you can practically play any DOS game on your PSP, as long as you do the .bat method like ThuderstorM stated. _________________ Holy Crapola! |
