comments: Update 9/6/2022: added SDLPoP support

You can tell effort was put into this. It's clearly polished. Also includes the shadow events, and (slightly modified) mouse event. All levels are easy. Probably the most difficult for amateur players will be to make some gates in time. Don't expect a lot of clever puzzles. (A bit in room 22 of level 6, and room 10 of level 12.) Level 13 was too mazy for me personally. All in all, a very suitable mod for beginner players.

Update 14/6/2022:
Patched the "secret way" where you could skip the whole level 6 by utilizing some tricks with the guard. You all must admit that it was not acceptable. ;)

Thanks for making this! I will probably never be able to learn the tricks of the masters, but this levelset is perfect for me, it feels like playing the game for the first time again. Currently at level 10 (the one with the skilled guards), memories of many fruitless attempts trying with my Dad to beat the first guard of the original level 8 come to mind... Very enjoyable!

Completed all levels in a continuous run, finished with less than 5 minutes remaining. Perfect difficulty for an old returning player, with the right amount of puzzles and combat and no pointlessly cruel sections. Thanks again!

I'm happy that you liked it. It was my goal to make the players relive Prince of Persia in a slightly different way. Also, congratulations on completing the game.

By the way… sheathing the sword and then beating the hell out of the Shift key to draw the sword again—that's how me and my uncle used to fight that one guard ;)

A very clever trick! I'm happy to fight in the orthodox way, but it's a good technique to be aware of!

Revisited this one today. I must have forgotten to leave commentary last time...

Fun mod. I don't have much to add that others haven't said yet. I most agree that this has it everything nicely executed, especially recommended for those with the appetite to relive the essence of the original game but if told from another perspective, and with some 'things not seen' yet to feel like a familiar yet fresh adventure... and slightly more challenging.

The PDF file was fun to read as well. I am almost certain the bigger changes to the shadow (and probably) mouse events were part of the advanced hex editing mentioned, not sure if you can achieve them in CusPop alone. If you read the descriptions as you play each chapter, you'll get a better understanding of the readapted events. It's how I'd personally recommend to do.

Overall, I thought this was quite cleverly made in all aspects. As a highlight of today, I managed to beat level 13 without ever getting lost once this time around. Lucky me!

Thanks for the kind words. And I'm even more thankful that somebody found the attached PDF and played the mod as intended—read it as you play. I was afraid that my masterful storytelling will come in vain… :P

You're right, the changes to the shadow could not be achieved using the CusPoP alone (mouse could, though). I did quite a lot of hex editing besides the shadow, which I completely forgot about. Your comment made me peek in the log of the changes I used to keep and it really took me by surprise to find out it has over 1000 lines! If there's any interest, I'll consider including the log in the ZIP archive with the mod.

I love reading the accompanying materials for any piece of software I like. I enjoyed the backstory when I played last March, and if you add the changelog I'll be happy to learn how much effort went into this mod!

@T0mmiCZE Hey, is there a chance I can contact you via email for something (PoP related of course)?
Robert (2025-09-08 19:38:40 UTC)

@Robert Yes, you can. I made my email address visible at my profile (temporarily probably; until they fix the problems with Princed forum).
