Levels 8 and 9 require good timing.
Palace textures are buggy on Dosbox (see last screenshot above).
Expect 'charriots of fire' music !

All hi! Good game. All levels work. Quite good 9 and 10 levels. The 12th level without double? Colors of the lock - normal. The mouse did not help. Generally a game - quiet. You can also to look:

Felt compelled to write a few words (spoiler: actually a lot of words), as this is by the same author who made "Pirates of Persia", which is still one of my favorite mods to this day. I'm somewhat uncertain but I think I had played this mod many many years ago with Total Pack, though my memory is too foggy right now...

I completed it today and I enjoyed it. This is one of the oldest mods to have been made public, so what we get here is pure, classic adventure with tidy visuals and difficulty a notch above the original game, roughly similar to most beginner-friendly mods out there. The early levels are, curiously, the longer ones (3-4 minutes at most), and then they get shorter with fewer rooms to explore, and also occasionally spicier...

You may fight several high skilled guards in the middle and latter levels. I recall a particular skill 8 dude in level 10 whose place of death was important in order for me to obtain a secret potion without getting locked. Speaking of, most 1UP potions are given like candy. I liked the one in the first level, it did require taking on a side-quest. Surprisingly all or any true blind jumps (aka. "do I short jump or long jump" kind of deal) were at the beginning, so it's not very likely to die to unknown fate, yet not impossible. That's the nature of POP though.

So that was one highlight. Others included: level 2 designed with two nearly entirely mirrored paths; tight timing with one gate several rooms underneath in level 7 and that 1UP; the skilled guard in level 10; the awkward first gate in level 9, interesting those gates didn't glitch. Many dramatic 4-5 tile long jumps, liked those. I guess I could mention some of the level-specific events don't take place in this mod, though I never truly mind when the mouse or shadow merging are absent (we see them every other time though!), but it's funny when the mouse returns to the princess like a good boy when it didn't even do nothing lol.

We also get some decent custom graphics to suit the story (written in Polish, for those who speak the language), and new tunes for some special actions, like when defeating a guard. These are cool stuff. I always liked the blue marble-ish tiles, a lot actually. Most guards looked like something went wrong with some palette conversion process or whatever I know those colours are from the POP2 guards, just that they don't translate well to the POP1 guards. It's not that serious, tbh.

Probably worth mentioning a few tips:

- There are several executables. If you want no visual bugs, run PRINCE.exe instead of LOSVCI.exe
- Custom sounds/music are only for sound blaster/adlib/etc settings in DOSbox, so with PC Speaker you hear all original sounds (ignore this if you use modern source ports).
- In level 6, if you are anything like me and long jump to the shadow's gate and hold onto the tile pretending like you're in a movie, well, don't do that, because that way you will die, since there's no room below. Instead, just long jump and let prince fall (or just drop down, should work too I think). This is important so players who go in completely blind can rest assure the level can be passed.

Overall, I can see myself replaying this in the future, in another POP-infused rush. Kudos to programmer for these mods, I shall check more from this person.
