This is the introduction music (created by Balizs Takics (Taki) 1995 Natural Beat) of PoP1-C64 version (Music SID). The commodore 64 version of PoP1 (started in 1993) was delayed; thus, canceled, for, all the works were lost (but still available on tapes); however, a playable demo with moving sprites, collision check and so forth had been released. I, also, received months ago an e-mail from the author about the project (Attila Pohorai) .
Wikipedia wrote: | SID, A commonly used short form to refer to the MOS technology SID 6581, the sound chip of the Commodore 64 home computer.
The MOS Technology 6581/8580 SID (Sound Interface Device) was the built-in sound chip of Commodore's CBM-II, Commodore 64, Commodore 128 and Commodore MAX Machine home computers. It was one of the first sound chips of its kind to be included in a home computer prior to the digital sound revolution.
Together with the VIC-II graphics chip, the SID was instrumental in making the C64 the best-selling computer in history, and is partly credited for initiating the demoscene.
The SID has U.S. Patent 4,677,890 , which was filed on February 27, 1983 and issued on July 7, 1987. The patent expired on July 7, 2004.

PS:
PoP 3D's official website says that this game was actually published. However, it was not. Viktor Varga says he has never finished it.
It is possible that another team has finished another version, possible but extremely highly unlikely. It looks like the PoP 3D's website team has seen a C64 version for PoP1 but hasn't known it was a demo .

Hey guys,
So, the story is:
Million years ago (maybe i should use, once upon a time...) we decided to develop the POP to C64 just for fun. The original idea came from Vic (Viktor Varga), and I was very happy to do something useful, as I had some programming experience in assembly. So, we started the "project" and made some progress. Unfortunately I never met with Balazs in my life, but he made this awsome music. By the way, congratulations mate!
I wrote the code to display all of the levels, and also created the sprites for some characters. At that time I just had a tape, and I never had a floppy drive until I bought my first PC, so we exchanged the code not very often with Vic. Can you imagine that situation, when you have the turbo assembler on one tape, in different tape counter for each individual hexa start point? It was fun...
So, later on Vic used the latest code, what he had, and made the demo, what you can find on the net some places.
However I still have somewhere on my old tapes a working version of POP1, where you can walk with the main character across the tunnels.
Unfortunately I don't know, where is this tape, but I hope, I'll find it someday. Nowadays I'm working on mac computers, and I don't have a C64 anymore, but I decided to buy a C64 on ebay, and find my old sourcecode!!! I have to refresh my C64 knowledge, but I think, will be OK within a few days...The last several years I was working on unix/mainframe computers, and doing business integration/implementation projects, but I really interested in to publish a quite working version to the world
Jeees, it was so fun!!!!
Thanks to Jalal, to find this site!
And just a note, my name is mistyped, Attila Pohorai
Best Regards to everyone who read this! |

I know. Also, if you want to spot all the mistakes, his name has not been fixed there yet, and the composer's name is wrong... and the year is 1993 not 1996. |
